But if you want to take an easy ride along the coast, there is an amazing cycling path by the sea (Paseo Marítimo). And, if you do it end to end, you can stop a few times to visit some of the island landmarks such as the cathedral, the marina and Palma beach (Platja de Palma).
The map above shows the route to go from Porto Pi Centro Comercial to Club Nautic El Arenal. This is just to illustrate the route, as it does not indicate exactly the cycling path. It seems that Google does not recognise good parts of the cycling lanes.
The whole path is 18 km long and takes between 1 and 1.2 hours. We started next to Porto Pi mall and went to the very end in S’Arenal (see the last picture below).
The lane for cyclists starts from the area around Can Barbera up by the ferry terminal but you can join it anywhere along the Paseo Marítimo.
You will start cycling east to pass in front of the Palma Marina. Continue and you will pass Parc de Marc, with the gothic cathedral on the background.
Keep going by the sea and you will pass Palma City Beach, Portixol Marina, El Molinar and Portixol Beach, Ciutat Jardi Beach, Cala Gamba, Can Pastilla, Cala Estancia and the last part of Playa de Palma, to finally arrive at S’Arenal and the last part of the path.
The pictures below show the diversity of both the landscape and the cycling lanes along the route. There are plenty of places to stop for a drink, food or to just relax.
Some of our favourite spots were Vermuteria La Gloria in El Molinar and Bon Vent Cafe & Bar in Can Pastilla.
If you want to rent bicycles, motorbikes, scooters or skates (electric), I strongly recommend Urban Ape.
